we have this escalating problem, here, children are robbing stores, forming gangs and just being generally unruly...

now this has gotten from child-prank like to serious problem

and there's absolutely nothing the government can do, since we in Norway have "stupid little idea" of not harming children
children are not responsible for their actions.. but why then, does the 'child-criminals' start at age of like 8?!

over the years they have grown to be hardbarked criminals, since no-one (rightfully) could intervene...

so what can we do about this problem?
sent children to jail? have the kriminelle lavalder (criminal-lower age) lowered?

short answer: no.

the problem is, people have stopped raising their kids, letting them go for nothing to act and behave as they will.
no, I don't mean all children are unruly little monsters because their parents don't have enough 'time' for them.. no no..
that's not what I mean, not at all..

I think, its the little things, those that seem so unimportant, common curtsey, waiting in line, don't shout, ask before you take, those things, little things.

my mother is 30 yeas older than me, (most peoples parents are about 20-25 years older)
she was told trough the 'old' school, granted, she was 'spanked' and hit also, and other bad things happened to her, but she learned how to do things properly
something she passed on to me, I know how to behave, if I don't, its because I am a nutball, not because my mother failed at raising me.
she thought me equality, respect, love, anti bigotry, anti hate, anti racism, anti homophobia., well actually, I needn't learn it at all, it was just not a part of my life, racism and the ilk....

so what I see is, its' become, 'unpopular' to be courteous, to sit still and behave like your a human being, with some dignity.
ach, yea I know, people are people and children are children, and I'm not the one to talk, but the difference is, that these children don't even know how to behave, they've never been taught it!

when your everyday person acts out, as me and my common lj friends could testify to, ^^;;;
we do it in our own way, if we behave half arsed its not because we don't know better...
because we know (and this is where it all lays) we know the difference between 'acceptable behaviour' and just pure shit.
I'm not talking about being different and wearing wonky clothes and acting like a feline on acid here, I'm talking about knowing..
because you are.. all reasonable people, you try to improve yourself (as do I)

these children doesn't have anyone with enough time understanding to teach them the little things, we are raising a nation of ruffians, take some immigrants for example, those who drive taxi cabs and wash office/school after hours..
most of them are soo polite! and nice and helpful, they aren't less assertive people for that!
while white taxi cab drivers and washing-ladies aren't half as often as nice, (sure there are exceptions, on both sides, there is always that)
it has nothing to do with 'race' or 'underdog treatment' they come from countries where common courtesy is held with a bit more regards.

okay, I've ranted on for to long.. I can go on and on for hours, and still not be able to get what I wanted to say, out right.

del, I have posted you package, it should be there in 2-3 days ^^

I'm on skip10 of my page ^^

::points and giggles at the Norwegian shortcut names:: 'Papirkurv' sounds totally cute... It's scary how much of those relate to Dutch though... Okay, in Dutch Windows, the Recycle Bin is called 'Prullenbak' but 'Papierkorf' as a translation of 'Papirkurv' would work... And 'Mine nettverkssteder' = 'Mijn netwerklocaties', and 'Min Koffert' = 'Mijn koffer', 'Den lengste reisen' = 'De langste reis' (well I'm assuming it's 'The longest journey', anyway)... ^_^

Oh, and... don't tell her I told you, but my mom is 35 yrs older than me ^^ I guess that makes our moms about the same age ^^

You should read Michel Foucault's Carceral. In it, he explains how we make our own criminals: children learn criminal skills by being put into places of "reform."

There are even some cities that make projections of their future crime rate by examining the percentage of third grade illiteracy.

PS. I like the sentiment, but I'd point out that 'degredation' has been postulated by every society in written history.

NOTE: I merely offer this last point as something to consider.
